The Best 30A Staycations

Cameron Strayhan

Our beautiful community is thought by many to be one of the most romantic spots for vacation and special events, like weddings or honeymoons. But what about staycations? When life gets busy, we often need to reset and recharge with a quick staycation, and sometimes even the locals need a change of scenery, even if just to set the mood for romance. Looking for a romantic mini-trip with your Valentine? Check out this article for a list of the best staycation spots on 30A.

 The Pearl, Rosemary Beach

Situated on the easternmost side of 30A, few places are more romantic than Rosemary Beach. This gorgeous planned community invites travelers to relax and stay a while, including everything needed for a weekend, weeklong or permanent vacation. Thoughtful shopping, delicious restaurants, and an air of being truly somewhere else entirely, Rosemary Beach is the perfect getaway for lovers. Situated in the midst of this idyllic community is The Pearl Hotel, a 55-room architectural beauty that suggests Old European elegance and charm and offers everything guests could want without really ever having to leave the property, except maybe to walk right across the lawn to the gulf waters. From its rooftop bar to its first-class spa to its award-winning restaurant, the Havana Beach Bar and Grille, the Pearl offers luxurious amenities and memorable stays. And for the most romantic of stays? Book the Pearl Suite, which can include a package that offers daily breakfast in bed, a bottle of sparkling wine, daily beach setups and bike rentals, and freshly baked treats with a nightly turn-down service. Heavenly.

Lisbeth’s Bed and Breakfast, Seagrove

Lisbeth’s has the distinct honor of being the ‘only bed and breakfast on 30A,’ and located in Seagrove, it’s easy to call it also the most centrally-located place to stay on the 19-mile stretch of Highway 30A. This lovely, 5-bedroom inn can best be described as cozy, with four fireplaces primed for snuggling near, sunset views from the porch, uniquely-named guestrooms, and hot breakfast served each morning of your stay. It’s also truly a getaway for lovers (pets and guests under 25 aren’t invited), just a short 300-foot stroll to the beach and offering the ‘I Thee Wed’ suite which features an an-room fireplace and veranda with a view of the gulf. With only five rooms, Lisbeth’s is something to book in advance, and its location makes it easy to visit any of the nearby restaurants for lunch or dinner, such as Cowgirl Kitchen (try the Shrimp Roll with Tarragon!), Whiskey Bravo (go at sunset for a pre-dinner rooftop cocktail), or the Surfing Deer (the perfect spot for a romantic dinner).

Hibiscus Inn, Grayton Beach

Grayton Beach is often described as one of the friendliest places on 30A (if not the whole state of Florida), and its funky, quirky vibe pours over into every restaurant, shop and vacation rental in the community. Just as you enter Grayton Beach you will find the Hibiscus Inn, described as ‘an old-fashioned, romantic getaway,’ and no description could be more accurate. The 13-room inn is just a short stroll from anything in Grayton Beach, and each room in the inn is unique, with several different buildings on the property offering entirely different accommodations. Traditional B&B-style rooms are housed in the same building as the café, three luxury suites in the Hibiscus Flats building, a stand-alone cottage ideal for those seeking ultimate privacy, and several other rooms located in another building. The café serves breakfast and lunch, and guests and locals are invited to join for live music regularly offered in the ‘Courtyard of Love’ in the rear of the property. The whole atmosphere of the stays here is one of relaxation, inspiration, and a little bit of old-Florida summer vacation.

The Motor Court and The Honeymoon Cottages, Seaside

Seaside is known for its family-friendly and romantic getaways, with most accommodations existing as larger family homes and cottages that encourage the whole family to join. However, Seaside also boasts several choices that are meant for a smaller crowd, namely couples looking for a quiet, romantic getaway or staycation. While there are many 1-bedroom vacation homes available (smaller cottages, carriage houses and lock-offs), the Seaside Motor court offers an old-fashioned ‘just stopping through’ vibe, reminiscent of the vintage motor courts of yesterday. Slightly quirky with vintage décor and style, the motor courts couldn’t have a better location for those looking to experience the shops and restaurants Seaside has to offer. And if you want to step it up a little from there, the beachfront cottages on the south side of 30A in Seaside are nothing short of romantic bliss, including cottages like Honeybee, a one-bedroom, two story charmer with gulf-front porches on the lower and upper levels. The lower level has a Jacuzzi tub for two (and curtains to draw all around for ultimate privacy), and the upper level has a hammock and plenty of sunset views. The perfect location for renewing vows, honeymooning, or just rekindling that old flame with a weekend staycation.
